These Cycles govern the World…

by | Sep 22, 2024 | Newsletter | 0 comments

Hello,

you’ve probably heard it before. We all live in cycles.

Whether as individuals, colleagues, or as a society, we are all subject to natural laws we cannot escape.

At the core of these cycles, the same dynamic is always at work:

Everything rises—and eventually, everything falls again. We see this reflected in…

👉 stock market prices,
👉 real estate prices, or
👉 entire economic cycles.

And of course, in our own lives as well. Certain themes keep returning until we have learned from them and transformed them.

Recently, I came across an interesting theory: the Four-Generation Theory.

This theory analyzes the cyclical patterns of society through the succession of generations.

The creators of this theory, Strauss and Howe*, claim that every society goes through four phases over the course of roughly 80 to 100 years—much like the seasons of the year:

🌱 Spring: A time of rebuilding after a crisis. Society moves closer together; institutions are strengthened.
☀️ Summer: Everything revolves around cultural and spiritual renewal. Old structures are gradually questioned; individualism grows.
🍂 Autumn: The decline of structures begins. Institutions lose significance; social order starts to crumble.
❄️ Winter: An existential crisis is imminent. Deep upheavals, conflicts, or wars lead to a new beginning.

You probably feel deep inside which phase we’re currently in, don’t you?

So what does all of this have to do with Human Design?

The parallels to Human Design are clearly visible. For example, if we look at the Rave Mandala (illustration 👇🏼), we can also identify four sections (quadrants):

Q1: Initiation, discovery, understanding
Q2: Creating, shaping, structuring
Q3: Interaction, exchange, bonding
Q4: Influence, change, transformation

Perhaps you’ve already experienced this, and I may have described your own chart in relation to these four quadrants during a Human Design Career Reading.

At the moment, we are clearly in a phase of transformation—very similar to the autumn or winter cycle. This means:

We are standing on the brink of profound change.

And to intensify this even further: According to Human Design, we are also at the end of a 400-year cycle—and thus in the transition from the Cross of Planning to the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix.

This can feel quite challenging—but also deeply liberating.

That’s why my tip for you is this: Work on your resilience and your self-awareness.

Human Design is exactly the right tool for that.

In the next newsletter, I’ll explain which cycles affect and shape every person’s life.

Stay curious (and relaxed) — and feel free to write to me if you have any questions or thoughts about this!

Thank you for your attention.

P.S.: In October, I won’t be offering written Human Design Career Report or written coaching courses, as I’ll be completely redesigning my website. However, I’ll continue to offer 1:1 career readings.

P.P.S.: Do you have topic ideas for future newsletters? I’m always happy to receive your suggestions.

Questions and answers about this newsletter

Which long-term cycle are we currently in according to Human Design?

According to Human Design, we are at the end of a 400-year cycle and are transitioning from the “Cross of Planning” to the “Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix.” This signifies deep transformation and the opportunity for a new form of consciousness.

What parallels exist between societal cycles and the Human Design Mandala?

Both can be described in four phases: emergence, structure, interaction, and transformation. This dynamic is reflected both in collective change and in individual life paths.

Why are cycles important in Human Design for personal growth?

Cycles show you which themes may repeat in your life until you have understood and transformed them. Your Human Design Chart helps you recognize these patterns more clearly and move through them more consciously.

How can Human Design help us navigate social change with resilience?

Human Design strengthens your self-confidence and shows you how to act in harmony with your energy. This makes you more resilient to external crises and allows you to use change as an opportunity for personal development.
