I really fell flat on my face…

Hello,

yes, I fell flat on my face.

Why?

Simply because I ignored my strategy.

As a Generator, my strategy is: to respond to life.

This applies to all Generators and MGs.

In detail, you could also say:

I wait for life’s offers and questions and pay attention to what matches my vitality.

And what did I do?

You can probably guess.

I initiated. I did not respond.

The story behind it:

Ich liebe es zu schreiben.
My Human Design blog is among the most widely read in Germany.

One morning – I’m in the office, coffee, good mood.
And then I get this glorious idea:
I’ll write an article for a well-known magazine in the field of spirituality and science.

So I write to them…

The answer? Super friendly.
The topic of the next issue: New Work.
And according to the editors, my topic fits perfectly.

I start typing.
Defy the procrastination demons.
Even dislocate my finger while playing football.
Still, I keep writing. With one hand.
24,000 characters. Done, one day before the deadline.

My girlfriend reads the text.
Critical. But even she says: Really worth reading!

So I send it off.

A week later, the reply comes:
Thank you, the article has arrived safely! How many copies of the issue would you like us to send you?

And I write 7, and I’m as happy as a little kid.

A week later – another email.
I open it. And my face drops.

Dear Mr. Waaden,

Once again, thank you very much for submitting your article. The editorial team has now reviewed several contributions on this topic.

Unfortunately, we must inform you that your article was not selected for the upcoming issue.

Of course, you are free to submit the article to another medium.

Best regards

Boom. Rejected.

And my first thought was…
That a**hole…! (Sorry, but that’s how it was)

And my second thought:
Thomas, you really should have seen that coming.

Because I didn’t respond to life.
I initiated to the highest degree.

Why am I telling you this?

Not because I want pity (okay… maybe just a tiny bit 😉).

But because I want to give you an honest example.

This is what it feels like when you live against your strategy.

Does that mean you, as a Generator or MG, are never allowed to initiate?
No.

But it does mean:
When you initiate, it has to come from a response.
Not from the mind.

Wait for life’s offers and questions!
